Sharnae Hayslett

Why did you choose CAADatMSU?

I chose CAADatMSU because I have always been a creative person. Later on in my high school career, I knew interior design was the major for me, and I also knew that I wanted to attend a college in my state. I came to Fall Preview Day the spring of my junior year in high school, as well as attended Academic Insight the spring of my senior year and fell in love. The people and the environment was very inviting, and I could tell that the interior design faculty would help me achieve my goals. Also, the Interior Design Program at MSU is the only accredited program in the state of Mississippi for interior design, which showed they were the best of the best in the state.

Favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the Chapel of Memories. It's a calm and relaxing space to get away when I need a break or need a new environment to come up with fresh ideas.

If you could go back and tell your high school self one thing, what would it be.

Be brave; don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. Be confident in your work. We often compare our work to our peers, and it's easy to get discouraged. However, believe in yourself, because you are capable and can do way more than you think.

These are a few of my favorite things ...

Drinking coffee, traveling, playing with my dog named Fluffy, watching and going to basketball games, and being able to attend a school where I've made some lifelong friends!
