Tiffany Epiphany
In this trilogy, I investigate how beauty operates as a mechanism of worship, adoration, and balance. Drawing from naturally occurring phenomena such as water ripple interference patterns in Matrimony, stellar mapping in Millenia, and elegant botanicals in With You, the works translate these systems into reduced, graphic silhouettes that glorify simple concepts. Their symmetry and repetition reference the logic of prehistoric votive objects and figures, where form could function as figures of divinity.
My experience working in the beauty industry informs this practice, as do my client’s standards. Sleek lines, smooth surfaces, and chic notes of eggshell white coexist with relaxed posture and confident turquoise in each form. I understand beauty as constructed through patience, precision, and care, so these sculptures extend that labor into natural material as decorative elements. I use wood as foundation, metal to suggest linear parallels, fiber to soften rigid moments, and clay and space to virtually signify jointing and union. Compositionally, Tiffany Epiphany is an elegant visualization of things I am grateful to look at. I hope viewers encounter this work with an appreciation for foundational elements of living and my bold adoration of them.
