Mississippi State University Department of Art Associate Professor Alexander Bostic had two paintings – “Sleeping Syd” and “Sydney #1″ –  accepted to the “Illustration West 56″ competition, the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles 56th Annual Illustration Competition.

“Sleeping Syd” received a Gold Award in the competition.

More than 1100 entries were judged by Cliff Cramp, Francis Guy, Franck Stephan, Bill Morrison, Julie Murphy and Peter Paul.

“The caliber of everyone’s work was very high, and, as a result, the cut off numbers were very tight,” said Alyce Heath, association manager of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.

The Illustration West 56 Gallery Exhibit will be held at the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, 5119 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca. Opening Night will be in early 2018.

The Illustration West 56 Online Exhibit is currently up and can be viewed here: https://illustrationwest.org/56/.
