Mississippi State’s School of Architecture is hosting a Timber Innovations for Mississippi Buildings Reimagined (TIMBR) exhibit and student design award reception Wednesday [Dec. 7] on the Starkville campus.

Free to all, the 6-7 p.m. reception will be held in the Architecture Gallery at Giles Hall, home to the university’s College of Architecture, Art and Design. Light refreshments will be served.

Undergraduate students from MSU Assistant Professor of Architecture Jacob A. “Jake” Gines’ fourth-year architecture wood-based design studio will showcase design proposals for a new mass-timber mid-rise commercial building in Jackson.

Designed for the Mississippi Forestry Association, the proposals incorporate innovative mass-timber technologies, such as Cross-Laminated Timber. For more, visit http://tinyurl.com/MSUArchTIMBRstudio.

Support for the TIMBR studio was provided by internationally recognized nonprofit Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc., the Mississippi Forestry Foundation, and Weyerhaeuser, among other industry partners.

For complete details on the TIMBR studio, visit the above-mentioned website or contact Gines at 662-325-0094 or jgines@caad.msstate.edu.
