Interior Design Physical Model Home Project
Interior design students recently completed a 960 s.f. container home project—along with physical models of their designs! Then, they toured a local development where shipping containers had been transformed into Airbnb rentals. Experiencing the built environment after completing their own designs gave them a valuable perspective on how their conceptual work can translate into real-life spaces.
ID students' cubes that represent elements of national award-winning design projects
Interior design students researched nationally award-winning design projects and identified the key principles and elements that made them successful. Then each group created an abstract 6” x 6” cube that represents those elements through their own design interpretation. This project connects research, creativity, and hands-on learning in the studio.
Interior Design Graphics class - Assistant Professor Cyndi Parker
Assistant Professor Cyndi Parker's students were recently able to see first-hand the construction of a new house in its rough-in phase. This is especially valuable because our freshmen Interior Design students have been learning how to read and draw floor plans throughout the semester and a construction site visit like this allows them to see the real-world application of what they are putting on paper!
