"During my childhood I lived in fifteen different houses in the Midwest - a part of the country that feels as placeless as the rental houses my family occupied. As a result, I have always felt like an outsider observing and wondering about the area I was inhabiting. Each time we moved I became fascinated and haunted by the residual essence of the former inhabitants that still lingered around the landscape of our home.

"My work balances on the thread-thin line between art and craft -- that seam line that holds our desires together rather than a space where hierarchy within expression feels necessary. Quilts are, to me, often a physical manifestation of our desire for order and repetition. My work often lives within the tension of our reach for perfection within human manual imprecision and embraces the beauty in letting go of our preconceived notions of perfection.
