Jonathan Tate, AIA 

Founding Principal | Office of Jonathan Tate, New Orleans, Louisiana

Jonathan Tate is principal of OJT (Office of Jonathan Tate), an architecture and urban design practice in New Orleans. Along with their conventional architectural practice, the office engages in numerous design-related activities, including applied research, opportunistic planning and strategic development. Their work has received numerous awards, including National AIA Housing Awards and the National AIA Honor Award in Architecture. The office has been recognized as an Emerging Voices by the Architectural League of New York, a Next Progressive by Architect Magazine, and a finalist for the international Architecture Review Emerging Architect Award. Tate is the recipient of the Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Tate is a graduate of Auburn University, where he was a participant at the Rural Studio, and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. In addition to his role at OJT, he is a Professor of Practice of Architecture at Tulane University School of Architecture and Built Environment in New Orleans, Louisiana USA.

Cade Hayes, AIA and Jesús Robles, Assoc. AIA 

Founding Principals | DUST Architects, Tucson, Arizona

Cade Hayes brings over 22 years of experience executing projects from master planning, hospitality, cultural, residential and construction management to every DUST endeavor. Cade believes that great design and architecture transform our lives, shaping our perceptions through lived experiences. Driven by a passion for expanding the studio’s horizons, he explores new typologies while upholding core values: a profound sensitivity to environment and place, the poetic use of materials, and meticulous attention to detail and craft. In addition to practicing, he has led several Design Studios and Fabrication courses at the University of Arizona and Texas Tech University. He is an active member of GSA’s National Register of Peer Professionals, the Design Review Board for the City of Tucson, and is professionally registered in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.

With over 20 years of experience, Jesús Robles leads projects of varying scales and complexities from design to managing and executing their construction. Through the arts, advocacy, ecological awareness, and shared common values, he believes that it is our responsibility as architects, artists, designers, builders, thinkers, community members and humans to consider a more equitable and just set of environments. Jesús is a licensed residential and commercial contractor in Arizona. He is also an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona with a focus on poetics and spatial qualities reflecting cultural histories and landscapes, and is an active board member of Native Seeds SEARCH in Tucson.

Todd Walker, FAIA

Principal | Archimania, Memphis, Tennessee

Todd Walker is founding partner of archimania and believes that no project is without an opportunity to create a better architecture, regardless of size or budget. He is involved in every project from start to finish and as Principal-in-Charge of Design, Todd offers clients fresh perspectives, new approaches, and creative design solutions for their projects. He has chaired and/or juried numerous design award programs, including the American Institute of Architects Washington, D.C., AIA Indiana, AIA Louisiana, AIA Mississippi, AIA New Orleans, AIA’s National Canstruction, National Development Awards, Builder Magazine’s Annual Builder’s Choice Design and Planning Awards, Masonry Institute Design Awards, The Francis Mah Travel Grant, and AIA Memphis’ Design Awards Program Chairman. Todd was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects for his notable contributions to the design field in 2009, which places him in the top 1 percent of architects nationwide.  During that same year, Todd was one of only nine university alumni named Mississippi State University’s Alumni Fellow of the Year.  In April of 2014, Todd was the recipient of the Francis Gassner Award for his contributions to design. He works in the community, and beyond, as a passionate promoter of design excellence.  He has continually transformed modest projects into more than 150 award-winning works of national significance; as a result, his work has been consistently recognized by national, regional, state, and local award programs, featured in a dozen books, and published in Architectural RecordArchitectureBuilder,Custom HomeMetropolitan HomeResidential ArchitectThe New York TimesAIArchitect, and ArchDaily. Of his 150-plus awards, more than 100 are AIA awards.

All lectures will be held in the Harrison Auditorium in Giles Hall at the School of Architecture on Mississippi State University's main campus in Starkville. Public seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow seating is available in the Jury Room, Giles 122.
