The MSU Department of Art and the Starkville Oktibbeha School District PTO celebrate the artistic talents of Pre-K through 12th grade students with the annual Buzzy's Art Contest.
This online exhibition features original award winning works of art by students in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District. Works are submitted into four categories: Creative Writing, 2D Fine Art, 3D Sculpture, and Photography.
Each Creative Writing submission is analyzed and reviewed by a guest juror from the MSU Department of English. Judging criteria includes ranking each Creative Writing submission based on the level of Originality, Creative Expression, Organization, and Use of Language. Each 2D Fine Art work (Drawing, Painting, Digital, and Mixed Media), 3D Sculpture, and Photography is analyzed and reviewed by a guest juror from the MSU Department of Art faculty. Judging criteria includes ranking each work based on the level of Completeness, Skill, Creativity, and Composition. Awards include Best in Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Places, plus Honorable Mentions. The types and number of awards for each category are different depending on the number of entries for each school and grade.
