Three architecture professors at MSU will discuss housing insecurity in Mississippi in an AIA webinar on May 1. The topic includes a discussion of architects and how they can help solve the housing issues in the state.
The speakers include:
Professor Alex Bostic will begin his term in May 2023.
Professor of Architecture Hans Herrmann and and Associate Professor of Graphic Design Suzanne Powney received the ACSA Design-Build Award for their collaborative project, the LivingRoom, a prototype outdoor classroom and learning garden.
“Rethinking Public Housing” was submitted by David Perkes and Kelsey Johnson.
The juror for the competition was Barbara Davidson, a Guggenheim Fellow and three-time Pulitzer Prize award winner.
Her image titled "Mending" was accepted into the International Texas Photographic Society’s 35th Annual Members Only Show.

A roundtable discussion and opening reception will be held for the exhibition, “Housing Insecurity in Mississippi,” at 6 p.m. on Thurs. Nov. 10.
The discussion will be held at the Margaret Walker Center in Ayer Hall, Jackson State University. The official exhibit opening will immediately follow in the nearby Johnson Hall Art Gallery at Jackson State University.
The exhibition will run from Nov.1, 2022 – Jan.31, 2023.
One of his paintings will join the other multi-media portraits on display in a tiny house on wheels digital art gallery that will sit on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from Nov. 10 – 28, 2022.
