- Hi, I'm Vernon McCoy Junior. I'm an artist, business owner, and senior Graphic Design and Fine Arts major at Mississippi State University. I was born in Jackson, Mississippi. Shortly after I moved to Rankin County where I graduated from Northwest Rankin High School, and Hinds Community College. My journey at Mississippi State has been one experience to cherish, but not without hard work and dedication. While at MSU I've had the opportunity to illustrate my first book, intern with two companies, design websites, and create countless portraits. All which couldn't have been facilitated without the guidance of Mississippi State professors Brent Funderburk, Alex Bostic and Jamie Mixon. Discovering my major of Fine Arts and Graphic Design was an intrinsic desire. My passion for art was developed at the age of four. While a majority of millennials enjoy digital media, I saw it from a different perspective, and was inspired to create. Using this imagery to foster my creativity I began to dissect the details of the images. Embarking on my journey through college I anticipated utilizing my keen sense for details to establish a career in architecture. However, I realized that I enjoyed utilizing my creative skills to impact people in various ways. Fine Art and Graphic Design allows me to recreate meaningful moments for people, evoke emotions upon sight, and create visual identities for local businesses. The classes that had the most impact on my development throughout college was Typography, Graphic Design One and Two, Marketing, International Marketing, and Intermediate to Computer Design.
