Chris was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Science in Architecture, and doctorate in architecture, both from Texas A&M University.

Research focus on the documentation and socio-cultural examination of the design and construction of early African American church buildings which were constructed between 1800 - 1920s.
