Fred Esenwein is an assistant professor in architecture at Mississippi State University teaching studio and history/theory courses.  He is a licensed architect in Virginia and worked through his internship on various projects for private developers in Charlottesville, the University of Virginia and Washington & Lee University.  His academic research concentrates on American architecture, and his dissertation was on simplicity in American design from the nineteenth to early twentieth century.  He taught history courses at the University of Pennsylvania and history and studio courses at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin, Wisconsin, before MSU.

Alexis Gregory is a registered architect and associate professor in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University. She has earned a master of science in Architecture with a concentration in women’s studies and history from Clemson University, as well as a bachelor of architecture from Virginia Tech. Her professional experience includes professional licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia and ten years working in various architecture firms in Washington, D.C. During this time, she worked on a variety of architectural project types such as residential, corporate interiors, shopping centers, grocery stores, speculative office buildings, environmental/sustainable design and nonprofit architecture. Her teaching and research interests include construction technology and making, design/build, low-cost/low-income housing and architecture, community design and diversity in architecture.

Hans C. Herrmann, AIA, LEED Green Assoc., NCARB, is an Associate Professor of Architecture at Mississippi State University focusing on Foundational Design, Comprehensive / Integrative Design, and Building Technology. His published research is focused on numerous issues including DESIGN|build and BUILD|design Pedagogies, Collaborative Design Means & Methods, the SuperUse of materials, buildings & landscapes and the Landscape/Architecture interface. With degrees in Architecture and Landscape Architecture both his professional work and teaching have received numerous national awards and recognitions from organizations such as the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, American Institute of Architects National and State level, Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, American Society of Landscape Architects National and State level, and Architecture + Construction Alliance.

Before entering academia, professor Herrmann practiced with several southeastern and east coast practices including the firm of Ike Kligerman Barkley, an Architectural Digest Top 100 design firm located in New York City. While practicing in New York, professor Herrmann completed numerous residential and institutional projects with locations ranging from Martha’s Vineyard, MA to San Francisco, CA, and Miami Beach, FL. As a licensed architect in the state of New York, his professional interest is on issues of residential construction and the role of architectural renovation as a sustainable form of practice. Professor Herrmann currently maintains his own design practice as the sole practitioner of H.Herrmann resDesign, an interdisciplinary practice offering full-scope design services.
