Printing + Plotting


Giles Hall Plotter Lab

The lab consists of two adjacent rooms on the south end of the main floor of Giles Hall. One room has computers and scanners, and the other room has printers and plotters. The lab is immediately adjacent to the IT Manager’s office.

The Computer Room has 4 high-end Dell Optiplex PCs with dual monitors and DVD-RW. They contain the following software:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, and Acrobat Professional)
  • ArcView GIS
  • AutoCAD 2006
  • AutoDesk Architectural Desktop 2006
  • Autodesk Map 2006
  • AutoDesk Revit 8.0
  • AutoDesk Viz 2006
  • Energy 10 (for Active Buiding Systems)
  • Graphisoft ArchiCAD 10
  • Microsoft Office Professional (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • SketchUp 5
  • Visual Analysis (for structures)

There are 8 laptop stations in the lab with power and network connections where students can plug in a laptop.

There are 8 more laptop stations outside the lab that are available 24/7.

Our peripheral devices incude:

  • 3 HP DesignJet 1050c plotters (36” wide),
  • 1 HP DesignJet 430 (24” wide)
  • 1 HP LaserJet 5100 (BW 8.5 x 11 and 11x17)
  • 1 HP LaserJet 5100 (color 8.5 x 11 and 11x17)
  • 2 11 x 17 scanners
  • 2 8.5x11 scanners
  • 1 35mm slide and negative scanner
  • 1 microfilm scanner (coming soon)

The lab schedule for fall has the lab open with staff for 53 hours per week. It can also be opened at other times by appointment. The Helpdesk is just outside the lab and will be staffed approximately 10 hours per week.
