Line drawings are plans, sections or elevations that are LINES ONLY (black and white OR color). Tone drawings are black and white or color printouts that have more than just lines. They contain pictures, gradients, etc. For example, a black and white aerial photo, a plan with tone floor patterns, grayscale images, etc.
