Competitions

Architectural competitions are an important part of the architectural pedagogy in the School of Architecture. Competitions allow students to tackle real-world problems and real-world situations. Design studios have entered competitions sponsored by the AIA, NAAB, NCARB, Architecftur3e for Humanity, the Concrete Institute, the Brick Institute, and the Steel Institute.

The School has two annual competitions. The Pella Competion is held in the 4th year spring studio and is awarded to the student who best demonstrates completeness of design, and synergy of all the undergraduate curriculum. The Pella competition is sponsored by the Pella Window Corporation, and J.F. Day and Company of Memphis, Tennessee.

The TrimJoist Competition is open to all 2nd-5th year students. It's goal is to promote sustainable design. It sponsored by the TrimJoist Corporation of Columbu, Mississippi.
