*Prospective students with a 24 or higher on the math portion of the ACT are excused from College Algebra. Those with a “B” or better in a full semester of high school trigonometry course may be excused from College Trigonometry. Others should take these courses at MSU or a community college in the summer prior to beginning studies in architecture.

**Select courses from the “Core Curriculum Requirements” section of the current MSU Bulletin.

***This course is required if student receives a grade of "C" or lower in Freehand Drawing I [ART 1213].

****The School of Architecture curriculum requires a student take three electives. The Mississippi State University core curriculum requires three electives from the university core. Electives required for the School of Architecture curriculum are open to selection from the current S/ARC “Approved Electives List” or a course approved by the student’s Faculty Advisor.

NOTE: Once accepted into the Design Studio courses, students are required to maintain at least an MSU 2.00 grade point average to remain in design courses. At the end of the first year, a student must have completed all required courses in order to enter the second year, and at the end of the fourth year, a student must have completed all required courses in order to advance to the fifth year. Any student who receives a grade of “D” or lower for two sequential design courses must repeat both of these courses and receive a grade of “C” or higher in both courses in order to advance in the program, or receive the Bachelor of Architecture degree. Students need a total of 152 credit hours to earn the Bachelor of Architecture degree.
