I: Profess - An International Traveling Poster Exhibition

Starkville, Mississippi - Mississippi State University’s College of Architecture, Art + Design Gallery is hosting the international traveling poster exhibition entitled I:Profess-Graphic Design Manifesto this month. The exhibit is open September 25 - October 19 with an Opening Reception Thursday, October 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the gallery of Giles Architecture Building. A limited supply of free signed-and-dated prints by Ed Fella, the well-known artist, graphic design and typographer, will be given away at the opening night reception.

I:Profess-Graphic Design Manifesto aims to encourage discussion and shape the direction of design imagery in Western culture.  The curators of the exhibit asked design educators worldwide to engage an audience of students and colleagues in intelligent, provocative dialogue about their most fundamental beliefs regarding graphic design, including its teaching and professional practice.  The resulting exhibition will inspire dialogue among students and faculty.  Provoking the next generation of graphic designers, it will help shape the future of their profession.

The exhibit is a collaborative effort between Chris Corneal, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Michigan State University, and Maya Drozdz, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. The 29 pieces selected for I:Profess were juried from national and international submissions. This exhibition has been traveling to galleries and universities across the country since 2004.

The exhibit, opening night reception and limited prints are free and open to the public.
