INTERIOR DESIGN PROGRAM

Facilities

Floor Plan of Etheredge Hall showing space allocations

The Interior Design Program currently occupies a suite of space on the first floor of Etheredge Hall of approximately 7500 SF. This space contains the third and fourth year studios, with individually assigned desks as well as a ‘hot desk’ studio of 24 drafting tables for first year students to share. Students who do not have a personally assigned desk are also offered access to a locker for the semester to store personal items and tools.

The first floor also contains five faculty offices, a resource room, a kitchen area, a conference room, a project storage room and an audio visually equipped classroom seating 35 where most of the lecture classes are taught. In the last year we have finished a lighting lab (the only one of its kind in the State of Mississippi) and also acquired an additional studio of drafting tables on the second floor primarily used for rendering and Studio II Class.

The Resource Room (400 SF) houses a wide range of samples, supports catalogs and a computer/printer for on-line research. Materials include residential and commercial finishes such as carpet, wallcovering, paint, resilient and non-resilient flooring, fabrics, laminates, solid surface materials, and wood samples.
