Tools

• Note: The student should have these items before the first day of class starts

• Parallel rule, minimum 48” wide (note: the better ones have the “armor edge” that you can cut   against, also they have nylon rollers that keep the drawing cleaner)
• Drawing board – plywood to fit table approx. 32”x48”, cover with white vinyl board cover
• Drafting lamp – swing arm, 2 recommended with 20 watt compact fluorescent lamps
• Stool or chair – it needs to last 5 years and occupied many hours a day
• 8” adjustable triangle
• 8” 45/45/90 triangle (the better triangles are acrylic – avoid the styrene)
• 6” 30/60/90 triangle
• 14" 30/60/90 triangle
• Circle template
• Scales: 12” triangular architect’s scale and 12” triangular engineer’s scale
• Ruler: 18” stainless steel with cork or other non-skid backing
• Compass: the Alvin speed bow compass with beam is a good starter kit
• Lead holder(s) and 2H, F, and HB leads
• Lead pointer
• White eraser
• Eraser shield
• Drafting brush
• Small OLFA cutter (w / OLFA blade Pack)
• Easy Cutter
• OLFA Large Heavy Duty Ratchet Lock Snap-off Utility Knife w/ Rubber Grip
•  (and replacment blades)
• Cutting mat (12" x 36")
• Safety glasses (Required for Shop)

Materials

• Sketchbook or Drawing Tablt 9x12
• Trace paper (Roll 18" x 20 yards)
• Bristol smooth 18x24 pad
• Elmer’s glue
• Wood glue
• Artist’s white tape
• Pentel Tri-Eraser

Additional Stuff

• If you have these things already, bring them along – you may need them:
• Digital camera
• Watercolors, acrylic paints and brushes
• Color pencils
• Ink pens
• Hand tools of all kinds: drill, hammer, saw, screw drivers, wrenches, pliers, tin snips, chisels,   carpenter’s squares, levels, tape measure, etc. (a basic tool box should have these things anyway)
• Other steel rulers: 6”, 12”, 24”, 48”
