The Department of Art at Mississippi State University seeks to hire one full time tenure track Assistant Professor in Web/Graphic Design to begin in Fall 2010. Salary commensurate with experience. Duties include teaching courses in Web and Interactive Media. Duties also include student advising, committee service, and the pursuing of an active body of research. Minimum qualifications include a MFA/terminal degree in graphic design with an emphasis in web design or related field. Teaching experience required. Professional experience preferred. Candidate should be well versed in web technologies and languages including Flash, ActionScript 3, XML, XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Knowledge of server platforms (Linux/Unix/OSX/Windows) in regards to site development preferred. Candidate should also be passionate about teaching standards compliant web design methodologies across multiple platforms and delivery vehicles. Thorough knowledge of industry standard software applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and Dreamweaver required. Experience with dynamic web technologies including CMS environments, PHP, or MySQL, preferred.

The Department of Art is located in the College of Architecture, Art, and Design. It has 300 Art majors, 20 full time faculty and offers the BFA degree with emphasis areas in graphic design, ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
