DEPARTMENT OF ART
History
The MSU Department of Art welcomes you to a vital and growing 21st Century art and design program.
Physically
speaking, the Department doubled its space in 1972 and 1982 by
acquiring Briscoe and Freeman Halls on the north side of campus, and in
1997, Stafford Hall has opened its doors to the growing program. Fifty
years since these three temporary structures were built as dorms to
house the students who fled the famous Old Main dormitory fire, these
renovated buildings now house the largest studio art program in
Mississippi.
